Hi. I like meeting new people, but if you'd like to add me as a friend, it would be nice if you'd introduce yourself. (If you just sit there and lurk, you will not be added back.) I mostly use this place to mouth off about my life as well as offer my opinionated commentary on whatever is going on in the news, politics, film, music, and theatre. I also have a pretty abrasive sense of humor, so if you can't handle that then we might not work out as lj-friends.

Now about me. :D

I grew up in Ohio, but finished high school at Interlochen Arts Academy. Upon graduation, I became an addict of academia and my focus in school shifted from theatre to writing (stage, screen, and short story fiction) to abnormal psychology until I ultimately graduated with a degree in liberal arts from the New School University in NYC. I recently finished a legal studies certificate program at Texas State University and until I once again feed my academic addiction and go to law school this fall, I will continue working as a legal assistant at a law firm that doesn't believe in overtime. Yes, that's an oxymoron and yet somehow still true.

Enough about school and work, how boring. I'm a very femme lesbian that has made a career out of flirting and getting into trouble. While living in NYC, I met my girlfriend, RC. She treats me like a goddess even though sometimes I really deserve a swift kick in the pants. We've been together for 7 years which is bordering on the ridiculous, especially for lesbians, but I've also never been more sane or happy in my life so I think I'll keep her. :)

I'm a big nerd (but a hot one) and I love obsessing over comics, movies, and various tv shows. I have been known to use my awesome college degree to write fanfic from time to time. On a rare occasion, I will share some of my original stories in my journal, but any fanfic I write will be posted under the LJ name brighteyedcat. There are links to each of my stories here.

When I'm not wasting my time and money debating what I'm supposed to be doing with my life, I waste it on horses. Without them, I tend to get a little batty. I was raised riding American Saddlebreds, but once I moved to Texas I started riding and showing hunter/jumper and dressage. Right now I'm leasing a very young and precocious Arabian gelding and we're learning a lot from each other. I also follow horse racing pretty closely and kind of live for the Kentucky Derby. The only other sport I really pay much attention to is Ohio State football. Go Bucks! :D
